Its aim is to bring together a diverse community of makers, including open-source hackers, radio amateurs, and researchers, start-up companies, crowd-funded projects, community initiatives, hackerspaces, multi-disciplinary academic labs, non-profit technology companies/foundations and others. The goal of forming this passionate community is to run experiments and tackle challenges related to optical communications and photonics. By providing funding and resources this goal will be achieved, allowing, thus, the opening up of space communications development to a wide variety of people, organizations and companies.
This is a project that has just kicked off and it is still at its initial phase. Stay tuned for more updates.
